Promotion – Matthew MacDonald, PhD
Associate Professor of Psychiatry
We celebrate the promotion of Matthew MacDonald, PhD to Associate Professor of Psychiatry by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. MacDonald’s research focuses on using mass spectrometry to analyze protein networks in human post-mortem brain tissue. A nationally and internationally recognized leader in his field, he is a past recipient of a NARSAD Young Investigator Grant and a UPMC Immune Transplant and Therapy Center Research Grant, and is currently the Principal Investigator of a NIMH funded Research Project Grant (RO1). He has also been involved in several federally-funded collaborative research projects within the Department of Psychiatry and other departments at Pitt. In addition to his research, Dr. MacDonald is a talented and generous teacher and mentor to medical students, graduate students, and undergraduates on topics including affective neuroscience, memory and cognition, and the analysis of psychological data.
